There are several options available for improving your
smile. These include caps (crowns), whitening, and veneers. Our office
has found that many smiles can be improved using Procera Crowns. Procera
Crowns are different, from the crowns that were typically placed in
the past, as they do not contain a metal substructure. This means you
will no longer have to worry about a gray line appearing around your
front caps. They also appear more natural since light passes through
them more readily .You'll have a difficult time distinguishing the crowns
from the natural teeth!
Tooth whitening is one of the most rewarding procedures that we do in our office. The procedure can be done in approximately one hour using the Twilite Dental Laser. In laser whitening a protective temporary material is applied to the gum tissue surrounding the teeth to be whitened. The whitening material is applied to the teeth and laser activated. The procedure takes about an hour to complete. Some patients will need follow up home treatment . If you prefer, an at home procedure can be done. For the at home procedure, we make impressions of the patients teeth. The whitening trays are then made by a dental laboratory, returned, and the patient given instructions on using the trays and whitening material. The trays, with Opalesence Gel (very thin, very easy to wear) are worn by the patient nightly. Opalescence® is the first American Dental Association accepted, syringe delivered, take-home bleaching gel! Previous to Opalescence, bleaching was a tedious, time consuming procedure with varying levels of patient acceptance. The active ingredient in opalescence is carbamide peroxide. The safety and efficacy of the opalescence products are unsurpassed! Dental veneers consist of a thin layer of porcelain which is bonded over a tooth. These are usually placed when a decision has been made that the tooth needs to be improved esthetically with minimal tooth structure being removed. You can find a short movie with more details on cosmetic dentistry and other subjects at the American Dental Association Website.
