Laser Gum Treatment
At the Midwest Center for Laser Dentistry
we are pleased to offer our patients an amazing breakthrough
in the treatment of gum (periodontal) disease.
Gum disease is characterized by a deepening
of the space (pocket) where the gums and bone attach
to the tooth. A normal healthy pocket is 2-3 millimeters
deep and does not bleed.
Diseased Pocket

Traditional Surgery
Traditional Treatment includes scalpel
and suture surgery that cuts off the swollen diseased
tissue and removes the calculus and bacterial debris.
Complications include swelling, bleeding
, exposed sensitive root surfaces.
Laser Dentistry Alternative
Laser treatment involves applying the
laser to the inside of the pocket, removal of the
debris with hand instruments, a second laser treatment
following debris removal, and adjustment of any 'bite'
problems.

The laser assists the body in healing.
The results of which often result in decreased pocket
depth, lack of inflammation, and possibly increased
bone support.
